With the use of the hygiene concept HaaS (Hygiene as a Service) already in the planning of new buildings, not only the operator, but also the residents benefit from an energy-friendly and highly efficient operation of the complete drinking water supply.

Why does it pay off for everyone to take a closer look at sanitation and energy consumption, especially with regard to TWA, and to rely on innovative technologies?

Operators as well as users can benefit from energy savings (≈ 30%) in the future and thus make a very positive contribution to achieving the climate targets for CO-2 consumption. The savings are also reflected in the purse, as maintenance costs are also lower due to a much gentler and thus longer-lasting use of the drinking water system. For investors, the use of such technologies also pays off, as the use of the components of the hygiene concept can improve the sales price and the later expected return.

Since approx. 70-80% of our drinking water comes from the groundwater, this quality should also be available to the consumers with undiminished high quality after the house installation. There is no need to carry water boxes, as tap water is a very healthy, sustainable and cheap alternative, which also protects the environment.

Unfortunately, over ≈ 35% of the installations in properties with central water heating (share of central WWE approx. 58% on the market) are over 25 years old and in need of renovation. Approx. 60% of these properties have an efficiency of less than 50% in the circulation. These circulation losses can be significantly reduced with the support of a harmonised TWA and generate a further energy savings potential of approx. ≈ 13%.

Therefore, the installation of an ultrafiltration system, an innovative limescale protection system, as well as, an intelligent valve control is an essential part of a sustainable operation.

Already at the entrance to the building, the limescale load on the system is significantly minimised by means of a seed crystal process, without generating additional costs for electricity or operating materials. In addition, the innovative technology with its very compact and closed design eliminates the risk of contamination for the downstream drinking water network.

As a further concept component, a modern ultrafiltration unit is used in the full flow of the house water inlet (point of entry), which removes all bacteria / viruses as well as microplastics from the drinking water as an essential safety component due to the pore size of 0.02µm. By means of separate pumps within the ultrafiltration unit, stagnation times can also be overcome, thus ensuring the safety of the system and the TWA.

Optimize renovation measures

Our concept - HaaS (Step 2)

The use of the ultrafiltration system makes it possible to gradually reduce or maintain a constant primary energy of the TWA, which reduces energy costs but keeps hygiene safety at a very high level. The power grid benefits from gentle operation, which extends the service life. Possibilities for using renewable energies, such as the use of heat pumps also for heating, are significantly improved with the help of the hygiene concept modules.

To ensure optimum quality for the user in the further course of the water supply, the thermal-hydraulic balance for the entire building is ensured by means of intelligent line regulating valves. With this technology, operators benefit from a transparent picture of all supply lines (TW), which means that renovation measures and any problems that arise in the TWA can be tackled much more efficiently and cost-effectively. The use of the intelligent line regulating valves is also of great benefit after renovation measures, as a recalculation of the hydraulics is often neglected, which is automatically remedied by the self-regulation of the valves.

Existing buildings that have to deal with legionella contamination (above limit or action values) benefit from basic cleaning with a pH-neutral disinfectant. The advantage of this treatment measure is that the disinfectant, which is suitable for drinking water, immediately combines with any microbiology and inactivates it. In the process, the disinfectant decomposes into water and salt, which means that it can be used during ongoing operation. It has been independently proven that even existing biofilm is removed from drinking water pipes after a short treatment period (8-10 weeks). Incrustations that have formed on the pipe walls due to lime, iron or other solids cannot be reduced with the treatment. This has the advantage that pipe bursts are not to be expected due to the treatment method.
